Will Provillus or Scalp Med Stop Hair Loss? - Thursday, May 01, 2008

Question:

If I am going to pay good money to have my hair grow back, I want a treatment that really works. is Scalp Med or Provillus going to work for me? Which is better? I want to restore my hair not lose money.

Answer:

To date, there is no miracle baldness cure, however, nonsurgical hair loss treatment options do exist and might be helpful in at least maintaining the existing hair you have.

Provillus and Scalp Med are two popular treatments on the market today however, do they really deliver what they promise?  Both of these medications claim to be FDA approved, but this is only because both of these medications contain active ingredient minoxidil, an FDA approved hair regrowth treatment.  In my opinion, the other ingredients contained in these products are questionable and at best, contain only anecdotal evidence of efficacy to treat baldness.

I would consider researching Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxidil) which in my opinion are the most effective nonsurgical treatments available.  Don't expect miracles, but using them in combination with one another will give you the greatest chance to stop hair loss or potentially even stimulate new hair growth.
