Dr. Charles has been on the cutting edge of hair transplant surgery techniques since follicular unit first emerged several years ago. He now exclusively performs ultra refined follicular unit hair transplantation with outstanding results.

Dr. Charles uses very refined custom cut blades which enable him to make tiny dense packed incisions. His highly experienced staff then produces thousands of extremely refined grafts that are trimmed under microscopes to fit in these tiny incisions.

His ultra refined technique enables him and his staff to dense pack large numbers of grafts in a given area when appropriate. This enables patients to achieve good cosmetic density in one surgical session, while the small incisions minimize the trauma and disruption to the scalp and enable rapid healing and regrowth.

Dr. Charles carefully orientates all the graft incisions in a manner to assure that the transplanted hair will grow out at the proper angles and directions to maximize naturalness. He is an enthusiastic believer in creating graft incisions that are perpendicular in orientation to the scalp (also referred to as “coronal” or “lateral slit” grafting).

Dr. Charles takes pride in being a perfectionist and being directly involved in every aspect of each surgery. Generally, only a single large "Mega Session" case is performed each day. His skill and artistry are truly exceptional.

He has had numerous articles published in the Hair Transplant Forum International and has lectured and presented frequently at several professional conferences and workshops. Most recently he performed surgery at the World Hair Society annual live surgery workshop.

Dr. Charles is a Diplomat of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and a member of its Hair Restoration Surgery Examination Committee. He is also listed in the Who's Who of Doctors in 2002.

Dr. Charles received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University. He obtained a medical degree from Nova Southeastern University School of medicine in North Miami Beach, FL, followed by an internship and residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Michigan State University affiliated hospitals.

He acted as the primary physician trainer in hair restoration surgery for a large hair transplant organization from 1997-1999. Dr. Charles is active in several medical societies including The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), The International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, and The American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
