Hair Transplant Costs: How Much Will I Pay for a Hair Transplant? - Monday, November 12, 2007

I receive a number of emails a day from hair loss sufferers seeking hair restoration treatments asking about the cost of a hair transplant. The cost of hair transplantation will vary on a number of variables including the hair transplant clinic chosen, the number of follicular unit grafts excised/inserted (dependent upon a hair transplant patient's hair restoration goals), and the type of hair transplant surgery performed. Therefore hair transplant patients will pay different prices depending on these things.

A further breakdown of the two hair transplant procedures are below as it relates to hair transplant price.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT - Strip Surgery) / Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS): Though this will vary depending on the hair transplant clinic, competitive prices for strip surgery range between $4-$6 per follicular unit graft.  Many hair restoration physicians will discount the price after the first 2000 hair grafts.  To learn more about follicular unit transplantation, click here.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) / Follicular Isolation Technique (FIT):

Pricing for FUE/FIT will also vary depending on the hair restoration clinic, however hair transplant prices typically range between $6-$10 per follicular unit graft extracted. Even though these hair transplant costs for FUE have come down significantly, many hair transplant surgeons will charge more than this up to about $15 per follicular unit graft.  To learn more about FUE/FIT, click here.
