Is Rogaine Liquid More Effective than Rogaine Foam for Hair Loss? - Thursday, April 30, 2009

Is Rogaine Liquid More Effective than Rogaine Foam for Hair Loss?

Question:

I want to know if it's true that Rogaine liquid (minoxidil 5%) containing propylene glycol is better than Rogaine (minoxidil 5%) foam without it. Is it true that Rogaine foam is not absorbed into the scalp?

Answer:

Topical foams usually contain a unique delivering quality that helps penetrate and absorb into the skin. Therefore, Rogaine foam is an effective hair loss treatment. Propylene glycol found in the Rogaine liquid has also been said to help assist the delivery of minoxidil to the scalp. Regarding which one is better, there's been some debate recently by members on our hair loss forum. Personally, The foam is easier to apply and since it doesn't contain the propylene glycol, it also doesn't irritate the scalp.  Therefore, most Rogaine users prefer this product and believe it's equally effective as it's liquid counterpart.
