While many surgeons often simply "camouflage" larger grafts or "plugs" with small grafts, Dr. Vogel goes well beyond this in reducing, removing, and recycling the old hair grafts. His extensive experience as a board certified plastic surgeon has given him a uniquely strong set of skills for doing this surgical "repair work".
Dr. Vogel prides himself in doing quality not quantity work. He typically does three to five hair transplantations per week, performing state of the art follicular unit grafting.
Dr. Vogel has been performing high quality follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant surgery at his clinic for over 3 years. He uses the Alpha Graft extraction unit with an 0.8mm punch and tumescent saline in the donor area to straighten the follicular units in order to maximize extraction and minimize transection of the grafts

While immediately extracted follicular units are good enough for immediate implantation, each graft is evaluated microscopically and any excess scalp or hair shaft debris is meticulously dissected away so that only the perfect follicular unit is grafted.
Dr. Vogel is also very involved in contributing to his profession and sharing his techniques with his peers. He is a past president of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (1996 - 1997) and was the chairman of the scientific committee from 1993 to 1999. He remains actively involved in lecturing and writing with many surgical societies and professional organizations.
