Does smoking kill a hair transplant? I've heard that some hair restoration doctors even let their patients smoke while operating on them.
It is true that smoking isn't good for circulation or the body overall. Thus, if you have the strength and willpower to quit smoking, I certainly encourage it. However, I haven't seen a single complaint that smoking has killed transplanted hair or stunted hair growth. During the initial hair transplant healing phase, it's probably better to at least cut down. It's also better not to smoke at least 10 days prior to surgery if you can. That said, I have never spoken to a hair transplant surgeon that would allow their patients to smoke during the operation, especially while being operated on. Personally, I feel that whoever told you that you could smoke while being operated on was either joking or lying to you.
