A young man's hair journey so far...Dr. Lindsey

Some viewers may remember when we first met this 23 year old and filmed his surgery. He's now a couple of years out and getting a second case. For you younger guys...watch this. Wendy and I discuss what I think are the big deals with Hair work on younger guys.

 1. Get a mature hairline that will look ok as you age!

 2. Never rush into it...once you start down this road you can't get off of it.

 3. Bring your parents or anyone you want to help you make an informed and good decision for you

 4. And do your research...ask to see other younger guys your doctor has worked on.

One year out from Frontal U Dr. Lindsey

Here's a quick video of a guy roughly my age who's a year out from his case. We'll likely see him again for the middle third but he looks NATURAL. And try to find his strip scar.

Repairing another low yield FUE

Here's a short video where we review a fellow who had an FUE done elsewhere, with low yield, that we repaired with a small strip. A couple of things, first, I think the other doctor did a bit too low of a hairline...that may be an issue as this guy ages, BUT, that's the hairline we had to work with. Second, Wendy and I discuss possible etiologies of low yield in FUE...some of the same issues apply to strip cases as well, except for root avulsive injury which is unique to FUE.

I have 15 or so videos going into this in varying details and even one or 2 where I show how this happens with small house plants, on our youtube and vimeo pages. Thirdly, even at 8 months out from repair..when this fellow sent in his picture, he looks great. Hopefully we'll see him at a year or so and get an interview. He already mentioned he's worrying about his crown...and mid scalp.

Repair of a previously transplanted eyebrow by Dr. Lindsey

Here's early followup on a young lady that we did an eyebrow repair case on. She'd had 2 cases done elsewhere and still had low density. I've asked her to spin by in 6 months or so and let me get some final shots. I'd prepared her for a possible touch up before we started, but she already looks good and hasn't fully grown in yet.

Class 6, fine hair, color contrast with interview by Dr. Lindsey

This nice fellow is about as hard of a case as there is. He's got a limited supply of finer dark hairs, a large bald head to cover, and significant color contrast between scalp and hair. Preoperative expectation management is KEY. Had this guy have been told everything could be covered with thick hair...it would be a disaster for both the patient and whoever was foolish enough to "sell" him that.

As it is, we have several examples of guys just like this we show prospective patients with this type of pattern. Roughly half of guys who see results just like this guy, say that its not enough...and if they can't cover that bald spot too, they want nothing. In which case, I'd rather do nothing than sprinkle a few hairs from front to back and have the patient look like a chia-pet. And roughly half of prospective patients think that by framing the face and giving reasonable coverage over the front 1/3 to 40%, that they'd be satisfied. But it is critical that if you are shopping that you look at examples of guys with patterns and donor hair characteristics like yours! Reputable doctors ought to have plenty for you to review before you sign up!

31 year old class 6 fine hair after 2 cases Dr. Lindsey

Some of you may recall this guy's earlier video. He's a 31 year old guy who has fine hairs, very white skin, and is now 19 months out from starting with us. The day we did this video we did a final case to finish off his current balding crown and hopefully he'll travel back to DC next Christmas to show us the results. I'll send him a link so he can chime in.

Most importantly for you shoppers...if you have FINE hair...make sure you know what fine hair transplantation can and cannot do. This guy and his pretty nurse anesthetist wife are very pleased with his coverage even with short hair. BUT if preoperatively we had suggested he'd have a head full of bushy hair...all of us would be disappointed. And I see people coming in every week who swear they were promised a head full of luxurious hair by a consultant who was more interested in the commission than informing the patient of realistic results.

Dr. Lindsey Step by step hairline/scar repair video

In this 9 minute video, Wendy and I review exactly how we repair a low density hairline and a low wide scar in a health care professional who had a previous case done elsewhere. For many of you this is old knowledge, but some of the newbies may benefit from seeing what to avoid the first time...and how these issues can be repaired.

His video was in the pipeline for a while...so the last short segment at his 5 week check showing his really nice early scarring was done after the video was produced...so there is no comment in that section but the patient does tell his experience.

Dr. Lindsey 14 months out from repair of FUE with MFUE

Some of you guys may recall this fellow. He is a muscular young man who had a frontal FUE by a very reputable FUE doctor but simply had lower density than he wanted. Now he has decent hair, but as I've discussed many times, FUE stresses the roots in an unpredictable way. AND he likes to have a very short hairline...so I completely GET why he did FUE. But he wanted more density and strip was out, due to his hairstyle requirements. So we did an MFUE 14 months ago and he walked in yesterday. His hairline looks great, although like a lot of perfectionists...he's sure he'll want more hair down the road. I advised him to sit tight and quit looking in the mirror so much. He's local so hopefully we'll see him yearly for followup. He is not on any meds.

Dr. Lindsey 6 month MFUE eyebrow repair video

Here's an update on our lady who was in a car wreck and lost the central portion of her right eyebrow. She's growing some already, will peak in another year, and may yet need extra hair. Like most females (recall I've done 3900 facelifts) its virtually impossible to get these ladies to come in without makeup. At a year, I'll make her wash it all off, but today she has "school and kid duties" and won't wash off her makeup.

The video includes her 3 month update and the video of the entire surgery for those who missed it originally.

Dr. Lindsey Plug repair at 18 months

Here's an update on a bushy haired 60 year old that we did a plug repair on 18 months ago. He looks good, better in person than either the videos or pictures AND we're almost certainly going to do a 2nd case to work toward his crown late spring.

The video shows him now, and if you keep watching, shows him at 12 months and goes into my philosophy on plug repair.

Video Dr. Lindsey Female frontal at 6 months

This nice lady from out of our area sent in some pics of good growth at 6 months. We did the same case a few years ago on her niece. She likely will spin by sometime this spring and we'll get a picture/video in person to add to this.

At 6 months she looks fantastic and will only get better. In the video I talk a bit about my reservations about female HT...in that its critical to discuss expectation management BEFORE the patient signs up. Its pretty easy to make most men satisfied or really happy. BUT females need to know the limitation of their donor region and that there is no way to make MOST females with female MPB look like the ladies on the cover of the supermarket tabloids. Many of my competitors apparently fail to discuss that as we see an angry female patient from somewhere else about once every 3 weeks.
